Paul Pastorek

Paul G. Pastorek (born June 1954) is a lawyer in Loudoun County, Virginia, who was from 2007 to 2011 the Louisiana state superintendent of education, based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was appointed superintendent by the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, of which he had been one of three appointed members from 1996 to 2004. BESE sets and monitors state education policy.

Pastorek was born and reared in New Orleans,〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=New Orleans Public Schools: Recovery & Reform, August 20, 2007 )〕 from which he graduated from De La Salle High School and Loyola University. He then received his Juris Doctor from the Loyola University New Orleans College of Law and was admitted to the Louisiana state bar in 1979.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Paul Pastorek's Biography )
Pastorek had a long-term association with the law firm Adams and Reese, based in the New Orleans office of the firm.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Former Louisiana Commissioner of Insurance - J. Robert Wooley Joins Adams and Reese, February 20, 2006 )〕 From 2002 to 2004, he was the general counsel to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, a position to which he was appointed by U.S. President George W. Bush. At NASA, he was an advisor to the then administrator, Sean O'Keefe. In 2004, Pastorek was instrumental in directing the team which developed NASA's reorganization plan. He and his wife, Kathleen S. Pastorek, who reside in Ashburn, Virginia, have three grown children, Ryan Paul Pastorek, Jeffrey Thomas Pastorek, and Kaitlin Pastorek.〔
